Our Patron

It seems that Cricket and Follifoot are synonymous and the Follifoot Cricket Club, which has been established for over 160 years, has been situated for much (if not all) of that time on land owned by the Rudding Estate. I am very proud to be the Patron of the Club and have been closely involved since 1972, when my father bought the Estate.

One of the most encouraging signs of recent years, apart from the league and other competition successes, is the development of junior cricket which will nurture the potential 1st team players of the future and prove that village sport is not dead. Off the field the club is not idle – the social committee does sterling work and raises valuable contributions to the funds as evidenced by the proposals for new nets and club house modernization.

The future of the Club as a village facility is also important. Some two years ago a new Lease was concluded for the Cricket Ground which not only secured the future of the Club but also enabled its beauty to be appreciated year round by villagers due to the creation of a footpath that skirts the outfield.

I am confident that the Follifoot Cricket Club will go from strength to strength and, naturally, I have high hopes for all the teams in the forthcoming seasons.
